Eve for Matter & HomeKit App Recensioni

Matteo

Perlomeno verificarne i consumi. Magari sul cloud. Funziona solo in Bluetooth...

Ottima

Legato eve room

Ho comperato il prodotto in oggetto... purtroppo lapp non abbina laccessorio... pertanto ho buttato € 79,95!!!

Graphs don’t work

Using Eve app with the air quality sensor. For some reason the graphs are flat and don’t show changes in temp and humidity. Hard to see changes over time if this feature is broken

Overall improvements.

What does that mean? Give us proper release notes already. You guys are supposed to be the privacy forward company in this market.

Where is my review?

I just spent an hour typing a review and it just disappeared before I hit submit. This is not the first time this has happened and there is no way I am retyping everything again!

Works OK, wants access to your photos

I use the motion sensors to trigger actions in the Apple Home app. I also have the weather sensor out on my patio. I went to upgrade the weather sensor to Matter, and it has you scan the QR code on the device, then it wants you to save or print it, then it wants you to let it see it again. So this app is FORCING you to give it access to your photos. First time I have seen this sort of wonky setup. Either they made a dumb decision, or they’re trying to get into your photos. Weak either way.

Worst products on market

I don’t understand why Apple partners with this company. All their devices have connection issues. Recently all my eve devices on HomeKit won’t update or work.

Eve smart plug never worked

I was told that it wouldn’t work because I had a first generation HomePod, I eventually got a second generation HomePod mini, which is listed as supported, I changed my home hub to the HomePod mini 2nd generation, and I can’t get either HomeKit or matter to recognize this device. Now I’ve had it too long and can’t return it.

Poor interface

I don’t buy Apple and HomeKit accessories for such a poor experience. The water timer functions well enough, and connectivity is superior to my other watering timers. However, the app is a disaster. And although Euro data protection standards suggest I should have less to fear, it’s always disconcerting when a specific device app identifies all the other rooms and devices and schedules on my network — I never asked for their invasive and redundant level of control. I can’t recommend the Eve watering timer because of the poor app, despite decent hardware, and I won’t soon consider other Eve products. Update: The water timer has since broken at the collar, so that has become just another piece of e-waste. Meanwhile, we bought two Eve outlets/plugs, and they are impossible to mount, unlike the trusty Wemo plugs. Of my 23 HomeKit devices currently active, now only one is an Eve, and it’s the most finicky and least reliable. Their stuff is junk.

Eve for Matter & Homekit

Good companion app for Apple's Home app. good to be able to see the thread network nodes and what's doing what. I really like Eve products.

O customer sport

Will try and find something else

App is great if you don’t use matter

If you upgrade to matter you devices become expensive bricks. I added 5 of the thread devices for lights and they worked somewhat well. Then I upgrade them to matter… and well… now they are just regular switches that are pretty dumb. They turn on and they turn off - which you might think well duh thats the point… and you would be right. However I want them to connect to home kit and after the upgrade to matter they are well dumb switches. I can’t add them to home kit or the eve app any more - so really kind of worthless - I will be returning all of mine. Absolutely trash.

Need a widget

The app and devices are top-notch. The Eva needs a widget for placement on the home screen. Ideally, it would let me choose the Eve device and the feedback for permanent display on the home screen. Then it would get five stars.

Air quality monitor

For the love of all things good, please add a low battery notification for the air quality monitor. Can this not be done with a software update? The thing will be functionally dead for a week but the screen will still display readings. There is no way to know the battery is low or it’s dead except to open the Eve app and check settings. What purpose can it serve in this state?

Handy. Spotty. Needs watch app.

Pretty good for my simple needs— standoff use of lights & air cleaners; door/window security toggles; detailed energy use tracking; and historical use & status records for everything Eve-connected. (What time did I get home last Thursday? Anyone in or out since [whenever]? Did I close the patio/garage door/window before falling asleep?) 1 issue: some networked devices become inexplicably“unreachable” intermittently, while neighboring devices remain visible. 1 wish: An Apple Watch app to toggle the status of Eve-connected devices.

Latest version makes graphs very hard to read

I like the way my Eve units monitor temperature, humidity and air quality but the latest update makes the graphs on air quality very hard to read on the iPad that operates as the hub.

Useless Now

Ever since the iOS 7 update earlier in 2024, notifications for my Eve sensors have stopped. Eve’s sensors on doors and windows fail to notify me when they are opened, making the sensors completely useless for me. With iOS 8, I am getting a very occasional notification. Why can’t these devices do what they claim? These sensors were rather expensive.

Unstable Connectivity & Outdated App: A Total Nightmare

I wish I could give this Eve light and App zero stars. It’s aesthetically nice, but that’s where the positives end. The connectivity to Apple's Home app is horrendous. It’s nearly impossible to connect and, on the rare occasion it does connect, it will disconnect within minutes for no reason. I’ve tried resetting it multiple times, updating my phone, reinstalling the app—nothing works. The constant need to reconnect it has made this light more of a headache than a convenience. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this product at all costs if you value stability and functionality. Total disappointment! To make matters worse, their dedicated app ‘Eve’ feels like something out of the 90’s—outdated, clunky, and completely unresponsive. It crashes constantly and barely offers any useful features. Save yourself the headache and avoid this product and their app altogether!

Cannot install Firmware Update on Eve Aqua

Title says it all. Button to download firmware update via Bluetooth does not work. My Aqua Eve does not run automatically on a timer and was hoping the update would help fix that but the app doesn’t allow me to download the update

Buggy devices go with this buggy app

Very annoyed that the various products I’ve purchased from these folks just tend to break down whenever they want no real rhyme or reason just stops working. If this is the future, Eve cab have it back.

Bug reports

Sometimes the Eve Room star level in the Eve app gets stuck at 4 stars, even when the ppb level is in the 5 star range and the device itself is showing 5 stars. Plugging it into power sometimes fixes this, but it’s a cumbersome workaround. Another issue is on the latest hardware revisions of the Eve Room, the spacing on the e-ink display between the humidity icon and the text to the right looks oddly squished compared to the older models of Eve Room.

Avoid Eve Systems at all Costs

I deeply regret investing in the Eve ecosystem. My advice is to stay far away and select another brand until Eve both comes clean with its problems and fixes the mess it’s made. Readers may want to check out Arlo products. Now, I’ve used Eve Cams, Energy and Door and Windows for several years. When I moved to a new home, I tried to set up my old and new devices but had nothing but problems. As the comments in these reviews and elsewhere on the web attest, since early 2024 the Eve app has been unable to pair systems for many. Eve has simply ignored or brushed off the problem. The workaround has been to use the Home app. That worked for simple devices like Eve Energy and Eve Door and Window. It does not work for more complicated devices like Outdoor Cams. I recently spent 6 hours trying to set up two Outdoor Cams that were professionally installed by a master electrician. Moved a wired router within feet of the cams. Temporarily turned off the 5 ghz bands, set up a separate IoT 2.4 ghz band, held the iPhone on, nearby, below, besides, and at 5’ increments to the cam. Reset the devices over and over using the reset button then flipping the breaker. Only twice did the cams even register nearby. All attempts to pair resulted in error messages saying the device could not be found. Since Eve support has literally said too bad it didn’t work out, have a nice day, I’m forced to hire a network specialist to fix the problem. Overall, a huge waste of my money and my time.

If you’re device won’t connect to HomeKit

If you are like me and your device won’t stay connected to HomeKit or Any other Matter based hub, then you may want to know that after 3 months of frustration with Eve “tech support” I decided to re-connect the device, then keep adding it to various apps and services until it disconnected. They worked with matter enable SmartThings and Apple HomeKit, but stopped working when I opened them in this Eve native app. Deleted this app and now everything works fine. Now if I could just get those last 3 months of my life back….

Poor quality and value not there

The appearance of products and software may look nice, but there are quality issues that are just unacceptable. I have a few eve products at work and I’ve had a couple that haven’t. The time and effort to troubleshoot to only discover few options to resolve is enough for me to say goodbye. I’m deleting the app and will continue managing what accessories work through Home Assistant and HomeKit.

Stuck on loading app

Stuck on “waiting HomeKit to initialize…” All lights stick in iOS as “updating” so unreliable! Even eve!

Poor support from Volker

I’ve been corresponding with them for almost a month trying to get automated scenes and timers to work for my blinds. The product simply doesn’t work, and they keep insisting that I add additional HomePods to solve the problems I have with little justification and explanation I’ve spent thousands of dollars with Omnia Blinds and now I want to rip it all out and replace it with something that works. Utterly disappointing

Terrible

This is the hardest app I’ve ever had to set up.

Eve app does not work as advertised.

Inside the Eve app itself, mesh diagnostic features are advertised that are contingent on having an Eve Energy (a $40 “plug”) present on the network. These features do not work if you have the current Matter/Thread version of Eve Energy. So if you are considering buying Eve’s expensive plug so you can visualize the Thread mesh, don’t bother. It might work with the HomeKit version of Eve Energy, or it might not. It definitely does not work with the Matter version of Eve Energy. (Of course Eve support asserts that the features do not work “because of Apple” or “because of Matter” depending on who you talk to.) Either way, Eve has demonstrated dubious ethics in advertising features that they do not deliver. Based on Eve’s apparent deterioration since it’s acquisition by ABB, it is likely that they will: A) Never restore the features and… 1) Never stop claiming that the features exist if only you buy one of their “Energy” devices.

Avoided all cost

Avoid these products if trying to connect to Apple home, they are the worst. Inconsistent connection constant “no responses” messages that make this product just unusable.

What a joke. Don’t buy or use the app.

Never works and the devices are garbage.

Why isn’t there a low battery notification?

I don’t understand why this app doesn’t support a basic notification when the battery is low.

Worthless

This app won’t allow me to add Eve plugs. Seems like they haven’t kept up with the Apple Bluetooth permissions, so impossible to use. Sending back and going with a different brand. Save yourself some time and avoid Eve.

25 foot Wi-Fi limit

I encountered challenges while setting up two outdoor webcams, specifically with connecting them to my Wi-Fi network. Upon reaching out to the support team for assistance, I was informed of a 25-foot Wi-Fi range limitation, a specification not disclosed on the product packaging or documentation. This limitation is uncommon and not characteristic of Wi-Fi enabled devices, leading to significant inconvenience. Additionally, the support experience was unsatisfactory, lacking in helpfulness and resolution. Based on these difficulties, I would advise against purchasing this product due to its restrictive connectivity range and the inadequate customer support provided.

Was great years ago but hasn’t kept up

Good looking app and when HomeKit was new, it was leaps and bounds ahead of what was out there. But it hasn’t kept up with the times. If you just want to add devices and control then, the Home app will do that just fine. This will give you some more detail along with usage history but only for Eve devices. Additionally, I’ve got like 7 years worth of data for all my Eve devices but what value is it? With everyone offering AI features now you’d think Eve would have even some basic use/function for all this data. But they don’t. Maybe by 2040 they’ll figure it out at the pace they’re moving. Lastly, their products are hit or miss. Just bought the new Outlets and they won’t connect to HomeKit. When their stuff works it’s good but not at refined as they should be by now.

Doesn't work

When I try to view all of my cameras, it doesn't show some of the cameras randomly and says error or no response when you click on the camera to view it. Everything else works and the Home app shows everything 100%. This error has been going on for a while now with no fix. Makes the shortcut show my cameras useless. Makes viewing all of your cameras at once in the Eve app impossible. Only happens when trying to use the all cameras view. Would change this to five stars if everything just worked.

Eve plug is horrible!

Read/write error constantly! Eve products are junk! Stay away buyer beware!

Erratic at best

I have a motion sensor and smart bulbs connected to this app and they will just decide to stop working with the actions I have setup. I can still get Alexa to turn them on and off so it’s not the bulbs. And the motion sensor shows there’s motion in the app. Just an unreliable service.

No longer works

Had Eve smart plugs for one year, now they don’t work anymore. Pretty short lifespan.

Unable to pair new devices* IT WORKS NOW SEE BELOW

Edit/revision My below review, while true at the time is no longer. My thread/matter plugs would not add to HomeKit no matter what I did UNTIL I installed an EVE light switch and updated the switch’s firmware which prompted the EVE app to ask for permission to use Bluetooth. At least for 6.2, part of the handshake between the EVE accessories and the IOS ecosystem was the need for the Eve app to have access to Bluetooth on the device. Without that access the “Add a new device” failed every time. If you’re having trouble adding a new Eve device check within the your Bluetooth privacy setting to see if Eve has access. Setting>Privacy & Security>Bluetooth. Eve if you read this review can you please prompt Eve app downloaders to give the Eve app access to Bluetooth upon initial download so that people don’t have to go through what I did. Old review: Up until the update yesterday I was able to add new devices through the Eve app but it seems that 6.2 “fixed” whatever loophole that was allowing me to pair new devices through the Eve app. The Eve app was my workaround for being unable to pair new devices through the home app but alas that is no more.

The app is ok

The app ok .. but the product is awful… I’ve in vested so much in this product and it so inconsistent. Out of the 10 devices only 1 seems to work consistently…

Broken

I am a software engineer and have tried everything to make this work. Nothing.

Eve Home

I realize this is designed for iPad. however, some features don't work on a Mac. For example, I cannot modify tiles in "at a glance". I still feel this is a 5-star application (on iPad) as it provides detailed information about my iot network. I'm done with propriatary automation devices; I've migrated to a matter/thread home and Eve delivers. I just wish Eve would pick up the pace and design smart bulbs.

Poor customer service

I have over 20 Eve products but if something goes wrong (like a broken switch) don’t rely on their slow/email only customer service. I get that they are in Europe but when your customers are in the US you need to support them. My last attempt to get the switch covered under warranty took thee separate tickets and resulted in no replacement because I bought it from Amazon as a new switch. Look elsewhere if service matters.

The Allow Snapshoot in Notifications Useless

The snap shot on the Eve Outdoor Cam is useless. One of the most important features: The “Allow Snapshot in Notifications” (after activating it), there is no information on how to see it and after looking at the notifications you won’t see any useable image. If there are various notifications you can’t see the individual images. This is an iPhone 13 iOS 17.2. This makes the app very unuseful, on a very expensive device ($250) for what it does. There are devises that cost 10 times less ($25) that have memory card SDXC recording and PTZ that works flawlessly. It’s a shame for Eve for not providing memory card support for saving the videos or a PTZ product. And the App, very poorly designed.

Eve is dead

Matter broke Eve. Don't buy Eve.

Well laid out, easy to use!

Love the app. Nicely laid out, and easy to use. I'd love to enable larger fonts, to make it easier to SEE on MacOS. Yes, I'm using the iPad app on my Mac. I'm not purchasing any more automation devices UNLESS they support MATTER AND THREAD. Eve devices do!

Now needs address

It use to be possible to make a watering schedule without inputting your address but EVE now requires your address to make a watering schedules. this data mining should be unacceptable.

Terrible

I’ve had this floodlight camera for a few months. Every other day the system goes ‘offline’ and the bright light does not turn off unless you reset the wifi. Thankful I figured out that hack but dealing with this issue so frequently is a drag. It’s hardwired and mounted, and the unit and installation was pricey so I’m kinda stuck with it for now. Camera quality is good. That’s what gets the star.

Really nice app, but there’s a glitch for battery stats

The battery status that’s reported for the window and door contact sensor continuously reports that the battery is low and needs to be replaced even with a new battery. The app itself does show a 100% battery charge, but still flags it as being low and needing replaced on both the favorite screen on the tile as well as on the accessories list in settings. Please try to fix this.

Bad software. Consistently misses movement

Cameras consistently miss the movement they are supposed to be tracking (animals), despite being correctly placed with the activity zone set to the area where the activity is occurring and the activity type to record when an animal is detected. I know that it’s missing it because i find evidence of the animal after the fact. This has happened with regularity, over a dozen times without catching the activity in question. Tl;dr: Low quality movement detection. Consistent missed recordings of the specified movement.

Eve system lost its edge

For a couple of years I’ve been using Eve technology to automate my home. From cameras, to sensors, to power plugs. I was fairly happy with them, until I bought my first non Eve camera. I came to the realization that most of their products became obsolete and you find better options for less $$. The app is no different. It is very limited and adds very little to the user experience when dealing with their products (I mean, compared to other brands)
